PREMIER LEAGUE POWER RANKINGS GAMEWEEK 10

In another week of gleeful Premier League football, it seems like we have to play a game of "Guess which fixture will throw us a surprise result". Fulham outfoxing Leicester in the King Power to deny them a leap into top spot was the outlier of the weekend (Fulham scoring a penalty too!). No matter how Many City are "struggling" you can trust them to put 5 past Burnley. We saw a Cavani comeback, a gross penalty and so much more.

But not so much has changed with the power rankings this week. The key difference makers don't really qualify for the rankings yet. However, there's been a few major shifts that have been difficult to decide. A certain Villa star.

But first a reminder of the rules. With this power ranking series, I'll be answering that question. The rules are simple.

  • Every player started on a level playing field so only this season's performances count

  • Players are grouped into 7 positions namely goalkeeper, centre back, right back, left back, centre/defensive midfielder, attacking midfield/wide forward and striker based on where they've played this season.

  • Players need to have played at least 50% of the minutes available to be considered for ranking.

Remember this is not a ranking of this weeks performances. That'll make for  😏😏😏😏😏thisasconsidered.

GOALKEEPERS

Edouard Mendy only joined the Premier League towards the end of September but he's kept the most clean sheets. He stays top. The rest is much the same as last week but it's not as straightforward as that. Martinez conceded the only West Ham shots that looked goalbound but everyone else had up and down moments. Darlow and Fabianski are the exceptions but the former in 5th could only close the gap while the latter leapfrogged Patricio.

CENTRE BACKS

In many ways it would be criminal to not having the league's in form defense top here. Zouma and Kane did something not many had managed this season and kept the Kane-Son duo quiet for 90 minutes. Gabriel creeps back into the top 4 with a goal and steady if unspectacular performance against Wolves. Mings falls to 5th with his West Ham outing. Ruben Dias is the biggest rise here, moving up to 7th with the Burnley thrashing and with the fixtures to come he'll probably end the year much higher. Vestegaard falls following his Manchester United collapse. Fofana is clinging to his spot at the bottom after the Fulham defeat.

RIGHT BACKS/RIGHT WING BACKS

Two huge calls here. Reece James overtakes Trent but only narrowly following the chance creation display against Spurs. Matty Cash stays in the top 3 even with the loss to West Ham but he'll be looking over his shoulder. Kyle Walker finally breaks into the charts surpassing Semedo who was decent against Arsenal, Castagne who is injured and drops and Coufal.

LEFT BACKS/LEFT WING BACKS

Yes, you can argue about Robertson retaining top spot this week with another Chilwell clean sheet while the former gave away a penalty. It's narrow margins and that's how it is all over with no change to these spots. Digne is out injured, Justin  and Targett lost, Cancelo was benched and Regulion was just fine against Chelsea. However, outside the charts Solly March is kicking on the door.

CENTRE/DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS

Another Leicester loss in a row has Tielemans spot up for grabs for the first time in a while. Høljbjerg and Kante cancelled themselves out to remain in 2nd and 3rd but they both would have eyes set on Youri's throne. Ward-Prowse, La Freekick Dea, jumps into 5th up 2 places after his delivery display against United. Let's address Ndombele. He's been pure quality for Spurs but my debate has been whether to put him in the attacking midfielder category or here. I did that earlier and they were so far ahead of him he couldn't make and appearance there. But I watched him more attentively and decided he's occupying deeper roles. McGinn and Soucek both fall as a result. Kalvin Phillips is back after dropping out with his injury coinciding with patches for the top 5.

ATTACKING MIDFIELDERS/WIDE FORWARDS

Same top 2. Son and Salah are the pick of the bunch without a doubt despite neither scoring this weekend (Salah registering an assist for all the chances he's created was a relief). The big decision however is in Jack Grealish, our Aston Villa star overtaking Mane. Both have been incredible on the pitch and in the end it was decided by numbers which Grealish tops. Rising into 5th and 6th place are De Bruyne and Fernandes who are both creative heartbeat of their teams and turned it on this weekend. James is a good distance of initial promise dropping into 7th. Bowen finally put in a goal contribution performance against Villa seeing him complete the top 10. Wolves duo of Neto and Podence scored against Arsenal and they've been repaid here. Neto rises while Podence closes the gap. In comes Jack Harrison and he might be an unpopular pick but he's been quietly consistent over the last few weeks.

STRIKERS

This wasn't the ideal week for strikers especially following on from last week. Kane was kept quiet by Chelsea. Calvert-Lewin couldn't find the net against Leeds. Vardy did score against Fulham but just consolation in a drab loss. Wilson however waved the flag for strikers with his 7th goal this season after a dip and is back in 8th taking advantage of Watkins penalty et VAR assisted downfall. Raul Jiminez. We pray for uncomplicated healing and quick recovery.
